In this week's episode Sharn and Andy talk about where we get or find inspiration for writing and creating.
They first kicked off with a definition of Inspiration and Motivation from Wikipedia:
Inspiration means- the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. OR: a sudden brilliant or timely idea.
Motivation means- a reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a particular way.
Sharn and Andy then both discussed where they get their inspiration, including what inspires them to write and create, where they get inspiration for their stories in particular, and finish up discussing how they get inspiration for their art and music.
During Sharn’s discussion of her inspiration to write she mentioned she was given an old copy of Treasure Island by her Granddad when she was younger, well here are some pictures of said book, including the evidence of her geeking out trying to figure out if printer marks were actually clues to treasure.
Andy mentioned his love of exploration and adventure inspires him, and in this vein, one YouTuber that he loves watching is John Hix who rides his BMX and other bikes all around LA California (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyHrzXnBF_s )
When discussing inspiration for music, Sharn mentioned a couple of playlist on Spotify and Youtube that she loves listening to for inspiration and good vibes, and here are the links to them:
Happy Folk-Pop Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5GkrKjdtIsNZdOW4vJK069?si=376b2d7b0cde48a4
Chillhop music - with the Racoon: https://www.youtube.com/c/Chillhopdotcom
Andy then discusses where he gets inspiration for his art. During this discussion, Andy mentions a number of artists and some other odd things that inspire him:
Alpay Efe: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MReVArEwZN8 Mandalorian Video.
Ten Hundred: https://youtu.be/SpNJMtz53fw His mixed media art and production quality with music and video is just insanely good.
NerdForge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy2CNdI6v_A Another mixed media artist who started in book binding i think but now does everything.
Enes Yilmazer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ4v-yxuPk8 Just the beauty and wonder of these videos and mega mansions for some reason make me want to create that feeling.
Tokyo Ghoul Manga by Sui Ishida. The coolness and epicness along with the horror and thriller themes are just on point and one of my favourite Manga when it comes to Art.
Art by Sui Ishida
Sharn and Andy then wrap up the chat with a discussion of what has inspired them to actually start Invoke Creations, and one of the main inspirations was Critical Role. https://www.youtube.com/c/criticalrole . What inspires Sharn and Andy is that Critical Role is a very successful company that started with nothing more than filming themselves doing something they would be doing regardless, who then got better and grew from there.
